The son-in-law had been caught red-handed while stealing cow from his father-in-law's house and selling it at a market in a nearby upazila.

The incident took place at Fakirbazar Hat in Barni Union of Baralekha Upazila in Beanibazar of Sylhet on Wednesday afternoon. Later, the locals handed over the stolen cow to the Beanibazar police.

According to local sources, Sohel is the son of Mozemmel Ali of Nandirphal area of Lauta union in Beanibazar. Sohel had stolen a cow belonging to his uncle father-in-law from Patan Uchpara village in Mollapur union of Beanibazar on Tuesday night. The next afternoon, he took the stolen cow to the market of sacrificial animals in Fakirbazar of the neighboring Baralekha upazila to sell. The locals are skeptical of the low price for cow at the market and the tendency to sell it early. They arrested him and put him in the Barni Union Parishad. After being informed about it, the police detained Sohel along with the cow and taken to Beanibazar police station.

Abani Shankar Kar, officer-in-charge of Beanibazar Police Station said one person was detained along with the stolen cow. The owner of the cattle filed a case with the Beanibazar police station on Wednesday night. Sohel will be sent to court on Thursday.
