Social distance not obeyed at Chandpur launch ghat

Although social distancing was obeyed at the beginning of the day, it disappeared as the day progressed. So the risk of coronavirus infection is increasing among the Dhaka-bound people at Chandpur launch ghat.

It was seen on the spot on Monday that MV Rofrof left Chandpur launch ghat for Dhaka at 6 am, MV Sonar Tari at 7 am and MV Eagle at 8 am. These launches left Chandpur with limited passengers in compliance with the hygiene rules. However, at 11 o'clock the scene has changed - huge people crowd the launch terminal violating social distance. The administration and the authorities have to struggle to control the passengers.

Passengers said the office opened after a long time. So they have to get on the launch with risk.

Passengers getting on launch without obeying the social distance

BIWTA Chandpur Port and Transport Officer Abul Bashar Majumder said, "We are struggling to control the passengers." People are getting on the launch without maintaining social distance. We keep trying. But they are not obeying the government rules to avoid the coronavirus infection.

Chandpur Naval Police OC Jahidul Islam said, "We are working hard to maintain social distance and discipline to prevent coronavirus infection." The situation is getting out of control as the day progresses. Yet we are not giving up hope.
