A small ancient copy of the Holy Quran has been found in Cumilla. It is claimed to be one of the oldest miniature Quran in the country. It has been preserved for generations by Jamil Ahmed Khandaker, a transport businessman in the Talpukur area of the city.

The one and a half inches long, and one-inch-wide Quran is very difficult to read. Although it was small in size in the past, due to the development of the printing industry, even smaller Quran are now available.

Jamil Ahmed Khandaker said his ancestors came to the country from Yemen. They could have brought the Quran. His father Abdul Matin Khandaker died when he was 21 years old. So he did not know anything about the Quran from his father. He did not know where it was. Recently he has found it.

Ahsanul Kabir, a historian, said the Quran may have been 300 years old. It would be the smallest ancient Quran in the country. However, palmists can give a good idea of its age.

Syed Sirajul Islam, a researcher in Islamic history, said that small size Quran was not printed or written in Bangladesh. These come from different countries.
