Six more die from coronavirus, 94 new infected

Six more deaths have been reported from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 27 in the country. Besides, 94 fresh positive cases have been detected during the period. With this, the total number of infected patients has increased to 424.
Director of Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) Professor Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora came up with the information at a regular press briefing at the health ministry in Dhaka through online on Friday.
The IEDCR director said the fresh 94 cases were detected as 12,00 samples have been tested the country in the last 24 hours.
Among the new COVID-29 cases, 37 are in Dhaka, 16 in Narayanganj and others are in different districts, she said, adding that 69 of them are male and 25 female.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 209 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances. As of Friday afternoon, a total of 1,607,595 people have been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 95,794 while 357,164 patients have recovered.
More than a third of the world's population is now under lockdown as an increasing number of countries implement sweeping measures to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
