Six killed as bus hits tree in Bagerhat

Six people were killed and 15 others injured as a bus hit a roadside tree at Fakirhat area in Bagerhat on Saturday morning. 

Three of the deceased were identified as Hekmat Bishwas, resident of Kodla village of Bagerhat, Kuddus Sardar, hailing from Arjunpur village under Koyra Upazila of Khulna, and bus driver Farhad, hailing from Naihati village under Rupsa Upazila of Khulna. 

Officer-in-charge of Bagerhat highway police Robiul Islam said that the Mollarhat-bound bus from Rupsha crashed into the roadside tree around 9:00 am after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving five people dead on the spot and 15 injured. 

Later, the injured were taken to Fakirhat Upazila health complex and Khulna Medical College and Hospital. Among the injured, one died at the health complex.
