Police recovered bodies of six people from a fishing trawler at Seagull point of Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Wednesday morning.

The identities of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.

Tourist Police of Cox’s Bazar Superintendent Md Zillur Rahman confirmed the incident this morning.

“We were informed by local people that a fishing boat has washed up ashore after capsizing on early hours today. A Tourist Police team went to the scene immediately and began a rescue operation. Six dead bodies were recovered and one person rescued alive from the boat around 8:00 am,” he said.

The bodies of the deceased were kept at the Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue.

Police initially thought that all the victims are fishermen and might have died in trawler capsize amid storm.

Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Farid Uddin Khandaker said, We are working to get more details regarding the incident.”
