Sinha murder case: Testimony in 6th phase underway

The judicial proceedings of the testimony in the sixth phase in the murder case of retired Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, has begun.
The proceedings began at around 10:15 am on Monday with the testimony of the 36th witness. For this, 15 accused including ousted OC Pradeep Kumar were taken to court.
Public Prosecutor (PP) Faridul Alam said 35 witnesses so far have testified in the case. Today 16 witnesses have been presented. Most of them are police officers.
Noted that Retired Army Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was shot dead by police at Shamlapur checkpost in Baharchhara UP of Teknaf upazila on the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive road on the night of July 31 last year.
On August 5 last year, Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a case against nine policemen, including ousted Teknaf Police Station OC Pradeep Kumar Das and former Baharchhara Investigation Inspector in-charge Liaquat Ali. Liaquat Ali was made the main accused in the case. The court gave the RAB to investigate the case.
On December 13 last year, RAB-15 Cox’s Bazar Battalion’s then Assistant Superintendent of Police Khairul Islam filed a chargesheet against 15 people. On June 27, the court framed charges against 15 accused. 83 people were made witnesses in the case.
