The probe committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs has asked for seven more days to investigate the killing of Sinha, a former army officer, in a police shooting in Teknaf.
This information was known on Monday afternoon.
Earlier on August 1, the Ministry of Home Affairs formed a probe committee to investigate the death of Sinha Rashed Khan. Two days later, on August 3, the ministry reconstituted the committee and changed the convener of the committee.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (Chattogram Division) and Joint Secretary Mizanur Rahman were made the new conveners of the committee. One more member was added to strengthen the three-member committee.
Cox’s Bazar Additional District Magistrate Md. Shahjahan Ali, previous convener of the three-member committee, was kept as a member. The other two members are replaced by a representative of the GOC of the 10th Infantry Division and the Area Commander of Cox’s Bazar and a representative of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Chattogram Range).
A letter from the home ministry said the committee would investigate the incident on the spot and find out the cause and source of the incident. At the same time, they will give feedback on what to do to prevent such incidents in the future.
