Signal 3 for maritime ports

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisting the local cautionary signal no. three as under the influence of a steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay and adjoining areas. 

“The steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh under its influence squally weather may occur over the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh,” Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said in a bulletin of marine warning on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, the Met Office forecasted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at most places over the country in the last 24 hours till tomorrow morning.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna and Barishal divisions; at many places over Chattogram, Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Southern part of the country,” said a Met Office release issued this morning.

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded by 35.5 degrees Celsius yesterday jointly at Bogura and Chandpur and minimum temperature today was recorded by 24.3 degrees Celsius at Tetulia in the Rangpur division. 

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6:00 am today was recorded by 44 millimeters (mm) at Bhola in the Barishal division.

The sunsets at 5:31 pm today and rises at 5:58 am tomorrow in the capital.
