‘Shishu Bokta’ Rafiqul again on 3-day remand in sabotage case

A court in Dhaka today has granted a three-day remand to Rafiqul Islam Madani, widely known as “Shishu Bokta”, in a sabotage case filed by the Paltan police station in the capital.
The virtual court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debdas Chandra Adhikari granted the remand on Thursday.
On the day, Accused Rafiqul was produced before the court through video conference. Later, the investigating officer of the case appealed for a seven-day remand including showing his arrest in the case lodged with Paltan Police Station. Following the petition, the court granted Rafiqul a three-day remand along with his arrest.
On May 10, a Dhaka court sent “Shishu Bokta” Rafiqul to jail after a four-day remand in a case filed by the Motijheel Police Station over the violence on March 25 this year.
The case was filed against 51 named and 200-300 unnamed leaders and activists of Hefajat-e-Islam with Motijheel Police Station on March 25 with charges of preventing policemen from discharging their duties.
On April 7, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Madani from his ancestral home in Netrokona’s Purbatola area.
