Shirin Sharmin to join South Asian Speakers’ Summit

Bangladesh National Parliament Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is going to attend the Fourth South Asian Speakers’ Summit in Maldives on September 1-2. 

In the collaboration of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and People's Majlis (Maldives Parliament), the Summit will take place in Male, the capital of Maldives on next month. The information is revealed by the Inter-Parliamentary Affairs and Security Branch of Parliament.

Aiming to obtain Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) South Asian Speakers and Deputy Speakers will attend the summit. Several MPs and the parliamentary officers will accompany the Speaker of Bangladesh in this visit. 

This is the fourth event in a series of Speakers' Summits for the region on SDGs, the previous three having been hosted by the Jatiya Sangsad of Bangladesh (in 2016), the Sansad of India (in 2017) and the Parliament of Sri Lanka (2018).
