Legendary spinner Shane Warne, the head coach of London Spirit, a team of England’s new tournament ‘The Hundred’, has contracted coronavirus.
Shane Warne informed his physical illness before the match against Southern Brave on Sunday morning. Later in the Lateral Flow Test, Warne’s COVID result came positive, although he is still waiting for the results of the PCR test.
Besides Warne, another member of the London Spirit team has been infected with the Covid-19. Both of them are now kept in self-isolation.
None of the London Spirit players were contracted by the virus. Earlier, another team from The Hundred, Trent Rockets head coach Andy Flower, was detected with Covid-19 and missed three matches.
Now Shane Warne also has to miss a few matches. His team did not win the first three matches, of these, one has been postponed.
Warne will now be replaced by Northamptonshire head coach and Warne assistant David Ripley.
