Shakib to captain Mohammedan in DPL

The Dhaka Premier League (DPL), the most popular one-day tournament in the country, will start on May 31. Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been made captain of Mohammedan Sporting Club ahead of the tournament to be held in T20I format this time.

Bangladesh entered the bio-secure zone on Tuesday (May 17) to play a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. They will be able to get out of this bio-bubble after playing the last ODI on May 28.

Mohammedan, one of the most successful teams in the league, started training ahead of the tournament. The team's head coach Sohail Islam is on leave. So Mehrab Hossain Opi will supervise the practice in his place.

Mohammedan coach Sohail Islam has said that Shakib Al Hasan will lead the side this year. The Tigers all-rounder has been given the responsibility by the team's cricket committee officials. 

In this regard, Sohail said, 'Talks have been held with the officials of Mohammedan. Shakib has captained the team in this year's Premier League to be held in T20 format. Shakib also gladly accepted the offer of captaincy.

Abdur Razzak was the captain of Mohammedan in the last edition of DPL. But this left-arm spinner is now the selector of the national team. He has retired from cricket. Shakib Al Hasan will captain in his place.
