Shakib Al Hasan's unbeaten 96 helped Bangladesh to beat host Zimbabwe by three wickets in the second ODI of the three-match ODI series at Harare today. With the victory, Bangladesh clinched the series keeping one match in hand. 

Bangladesh have lost three wickets on 50 runs in their chase of 241 in the second ODI against host Zimbabwe at Harare.

Chasing the target Bangladesh were cautious. Tamim Iqbal (20) and Liton Das added 39 runs for the opening stand before the former was dismissed following an excellent catch taken by Raza at point off Jongwe. 

After losing the wicket of Tamim Iqbal Bangladesh lost two more wickets in quick succession. Liton Das was also dismissed when his pull topped edge on mid-on. Before being dismissed to Ngarava Liton made 21 runs. 

Mohammad Mithun who did not get runs in the last match also dismissed cheaply in the next over to increase the owe of Bangladesh. Bangladesh reduced from 39/0 to 50/3. 

Shakib Al Hasan and Mosaddek Hossain tried to rebuild innings for Bangladesh but the latter run out for 5 and Bangladesh lost their fourth to 74.

From here, Shakib and Mahmudullah rebuild innings for Bangladesh adding 55 runs in the 5th wickets stand before the latter dismissed by Muzarabani for 26. Miraz who was promoted in the batting order could not prove his worth. Miraz (6) was caught while tried to slog swipe off Madhevere. 

Afif Hossain was promising the last ODI but today he failed to prove his worth and was dismissed for 15 to Sikandar Raza. Bangladesh were 68 away from victory with three wickets in hand. Later Shakib and Saifuddin (28) left the field after confirming victory for the Tigers with five balls in hand. Shakib remained not out on 96 off 109. His innings was adorned with 8 fours.

For Zimbabwe, Luke Jongwe bagged 2 wickets while Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, Wessley Madhevere, and Sikandar Raza took one wicket each. 

Earlier, pacer Shoriful Islam's career-best 4 for 46 helped Bangladesh to restrict host Zimbabwe to 240/9 in the second ODI of the three-match series at Harare Sports Club on Sunday. 

After having elected to bat, the hosts lost opener Tinashe Kamunhukamwe for a single in the first over of the innings, bowled by Taskin Ahmed.

The other opener, Tadiwanashe Marumani, lived a charmed life before falling to Mehedi Hasan Miraz for 13, with the scoreboard reading 33 for 2. Last match's half-centurion Regis Chakabva looked in good touch for 26 runs before becoming the first victim of Shakib Al Hasan.

Skipper Brendan Taylor dismissed himself in a bizarre fashion as Zimbabwe crumbled to 113 for 4 after 25 overs. 

But, Dion Myers (34), Wessley Madhevere (56) and Sikandar Raza's (30) helped Zimbabwe to post 240/9 in 50 overs. 

For Bangladesh, Pacer Shoriful Islam took 4 for 46, Shakib bagged 2 for 42 while Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mohammad Saifuddin and Taskin Ahmed took one wicket each.

The last match of the ODI series will be held at the same venue on July 20.
