International Women’s Day is being celebrated today (March 8, 2021) with the theme “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 world.” Like every year, the day is being celebrated through various events and programs. Two cricketers of the Bangladesh national team Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim greeted women on the special day.
Shakib has taken leave from the national team to be by the side of his child-bearing wife. He is currently in the United States. From there, Shakib wished Happy Women’s Day.
“Let’s make women stronger, more independent and more courageous through recognition, support and prosperity,” he wrote on his official Facebook page, saying, “Because only confident women can change this world. Happy Women’s Day to everyone.”
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim also wished Women’s Day. He is currently with the team on a tour of New Zealand. Mushfiqur wrote on his official Facebook page, “Happy Women’s Day to all brave women. Not just today, may everyday be bright.”
