Bangladesh’s new ambassador to the United States M Shahidul Islam has joined the workplace after a six-day quarantine.
He officially joined the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC last Thursday, a reliable source in Washington DC confirmed.
During his joining, the embassy staff greeted Ambassador M Shahidul Islam with flowers. Earlier, he laid a floral wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Embassy. Later, the Ambassador addressed a general meeting with the officials and employees of the Embassy at Bangabandhu Auditorium.
Shahidul Islam arrived in Washington DC on January 8 to take charge. At the end of the six-day quarantine, he officially joined the workplace. Shahidul Islam replaces Mohammad Ziauddin, who has been Bangladesh’s ambassador to the United States since June 2014.
Shahidul Islam was earlier the Deputy Chief of the Bangladesh Mission in Washington DC. Besides, he has also performed various duties in Bangladesh embassies in other countries.
