The players of Bangladesh national cricket team have stood by the helpless people from the very beginning of the coronavirus epidemic. In addition to helping in many ways, many are spending that money for the disadvantaged by auctioning off their personal souvenirs. Tiger batsman Mushfiqur Rahim joined the team by auctioning his favourite bat.

Mushfiqur put the bat, with which he scored Bangladesh’s first Test double hundred in 2013 against Sri Lanka, in the auction earlier this week, but the process had to be suspended due to some fake bidding.

The auction was jointly operated by his management partner NIBCO, Sports for Life and Pickaboo.com. The winner was announced on the Sports for Life page at 9:30 pm on Friday.

Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi bought Mushfiqur's bat for $20,000 (Tk 17 lakh approximately) who agreed to buy the memorabilia for his foundation.

Mushfiqur Rahim expressed his excitement as Shahid Afridi brought the bat. "Shahid Afridi has been in touch with me from the beginning," he said on the live show. He has been doing a lot of work since his foundation. I am happy that Afridi took the bat. Thanks to him and his foundation.

The national team batsman said, "Many people from home and abroad have shown a lot of interest in buying the bat. In the meantime, a man named Abu Bakar from Poland has tried a lot. As far as I know, he is a big fan of mine. Even if he doesn't get it, my love, to him."

“We first received a mail from the Shahid Afridi Foundation,” said Marin Talukder of the auction management committee. Then I keep in touch with them and make sure they are willing to buy it. They have been in regular communication with us and finally, they bought the bat with the highest money.

The auction of the bat started on the night of May 9 (Saturday). The auction was closed due to fake bids. The auction finally started again and ended on Thursday night. Mushfiqur Rahim has announced to spend all the money received from the auction for the helpless people.
