Shahed’s aide Masud arrested

RAB has arrested Masud Parvez, one of the associates of Regent Group Chairman Shahed and the second accused in the case.
Confirming his arrest, ASP Sujoy Sarkar, assistant director of the legal and media wing at RAB headquarters, told Daily Bangladesh that “he was arrested from Gazipur on Tuesday.”
Meanwhile, the investigation of the case filed by RAB against 18 people including Md. Shahed, chairman of Regent Hospital, on various charges including issuing certificates without the Covid-19 sample test, has been handed over to Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB).
RAB filed the case with Uttara West Police Station on July 7 midnight. Inspector (investigation) Md Alamgir Gazi of the police station was investigating the case. “the investigation of the case has been handed over to DB's Uttara team on the instructions of the commissioner,” he said.
On July 6, RAB raided the Uttara and Mirpur branches of the Regent Hospital. During the operation, fake Covid-19 test reports, various irregularities including the collection of money from patients in the name of coronavirus treatment, came up. The patients were later shifted and the Uttara and Mirpur branches of the Regent were sealed. Eight people were arrested at the time.
Tareq Shibli, the main associate of Shahed, was arrested. Mohammad Ali Bashir, the head of ‘Telehome’, one of the production company for TV dramas, and Shahed’s brother-in-law were taken into custody.
Currently, Shahed has been absconding. Police have banned him from leaving the country for the sake of proper investigation of the case.
