Shahed is the prime accused in the Regent Hospital fraud case
The prime accused in the Regent Hospital fraud case and the chairman of the Regent Group, Mohammad Shahed was preparing to flee to India by boat across the Debhata border in Satkhira. He was wearing a black burqa over jeans and a blue shirt.
RAB's Satkhira Company Commander (CPC-1) Bazlur Rashid made this information to the media.
Bazlur Rashid said Shahed was arrested from the banks of the Lobangbati river on the south side of Komarpur Bailey Bridge in Debhata upazila of Satkhira. A boat was parked right on the bank of the river. Shahed was preparing to escape to India by getting on that boat. Just then he was arrested.
A pistol and three rounds of bullets were recovered from him, the official added. After the arrest, Shahed is now being brought to Dhaka by helicopter for follow-up action, said RAB official awaited in the Dhaka Tezgaon old airport.
Again, Bazlur Rashid said detectives at RAB headquarters had information that Shahed was trying to flee to India through his native district Satkhira border. On the basis of that information, RAB higher officials along with intelligence officers from the headquarters came here, Bazlur Rashid said, “Throughout the night we intensified our patrols in the border area. We were able to arrest him at 5:10 a.m. after an overnight breathtaking operation.”
