A court ordered authorities concerned to freeze a total of 52 bank accounts of Regent Hospital Chairman Mohammad Shahed alias Shahed Karim and Managing Director (MD) Masud Pervej.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayes passed the order on Wednesday after Criminal Investigation Department (CID) filed a plea to freeze their bank accounts.

Additional Public prosecutor Tapas Kumar Paul confirmed the information.

Earlier, RAB arrested Shahed with illegal weapons from the Debhata border in Satkhira on July 15. A case has been filed against him under the Arms Act with Debhata Police Station. He was brought to Dhaka soon after his arrest.

On July 6, RAB’s mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam, conducted a raid at the Uttara and Mirpur offices of the Regent Hospital. They were cheating and extorting money from the general people in the name of the Covid-19 sample test and gave fake reports.

RAB, on July 7, sealed the Regent Hospital and its head office on the instructions of DGHS. On the same day, cases were filed against 16 people, including Regent Group Chairman Shahed, with Uttara West Police Station.
