Severe heat wave sweeping over many regions

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Wednesday said that a severe heat wave is sweeping over the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Chudanga & Kushtia.

Besides, a mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka & Barishal divisions and the regions of Bogura, Naogaon, Sirajganj, Khulna, Mongla, Satkhira, Jashore and Rangamati and it may continue till tomorrow morning, said the Met Office in a release issued this morning. 

The Met Office also forecasted rain or thunder showers at one or two places over four divisions in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today. 

"Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions. Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country," the release said. 

Meanwhile, day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added. 

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded yesterday at 40.3 degrees Celsius jointly at Rajshahi and the minimum temperature today was recorded at 22.2 degrees Celsius at Netrokona and Sylhet. 

The sun sets at 6:23 pm today and rises at 5:31 am tomorrow in the capital.
