Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Monday said that the first consignment of Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid vaccine, produced by Serum Institute of India, will arrive in the country on January 25 or 26.
The minister came up with the information at 'Meet the Press' programme organized at Dhaka Reporters' Unity in the capital on Monday.
The vaccines are being brought after talking with those who are working on vaccines, Zahid Maleque said, adding, "Hopefully we can vaccinate all."
Besides, the Indian government will provide some Covid vaccines to Bangladesh as gift. It may also be that the gift vaccine is likely to arrive before the first consignment of serum vaccine, he added.
The minister said that any organization in the private sector can bring the vaccine following the policy. However, the government will have control over the price.
Regarding the Globe Biotech vaccine, Zahid Maleque said, "I applaud Bangovax. The government will provide any necessary assistance in the next steps."
