A semi-decomposed body was recovered from an abandoned private car in the capital's Tejgaon industrial area early hours of Sunday.

Police recovered the body at around 2:00 am and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

It has been reported that the abandoned car belonged to Kamal Hossain, owner of UDC Construction Limited.

Police said the vehicle had been standing near a petrol pump at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Sarani for the past two days. Locals informed the police when a bad smell came out from the car on Saturday night.

Hafiz Al Farooq, additional deputy commissioner of police's Tejgaon industrial zone, said the semi-decomposed body was found in the Toyota brand car. The car with its driver named Sajal Kumar Ghosh was missing since Thursday. A GD has been lodged with the Dhanmondi police station on Saturday afternoon in this regard.

Tejgaon Industrial Zone Assistant Commissioner Ashiq Hasan said the body was in the driver's side seat. As the body was slightly mutilated, it was not possible to know whether there was any injury mark in the body at the initial stage.
