The two sides of the railway line from the capital’s Banani to Mohakhali are visible in protected view. Illegal installations have been evicted from both sides of this part of the railway and a security cordon has been set up, resulting in the reduction of people’s movement on the rail line.
Such an image was seen on both sides of the railway from Banani to Mohakhali on Saturday afternoon.
It was seen that steel poles were lined up on both sides of the railway. Fences have been erected by attaching wire fences to the pillars. At the same time, illegal installations have been evicted from the railway site outside the enclosure. As a result, the free movement of people on the rail line has reduced a lot.
The railway tracks on both sides of the railway have been protected with tin. As a result, the image of the Banan-Mohakhali railway and its two sides has changed. This has reduced the risk of accidents on the railways.
Mahadi Hasan, a local businessman, said he had heard that a flyover would be built from Banani to Mohakhali. For this, all the shops and illegal establishments on both sides of the railway were evicted two months ago. Later, steel poles were attached on both sides of the railway with security fences. So, people are not able to travel freely from one side of the railway to the other, he added.
Local resident Zaman Ahmed said security cordons on both sides of the railway line from Banani to Mohakhali had beefed up. If safety fences are set up in this way on both sides of the railway line of the entire capital, pedestrians will be protected from accidents. The attention of the railway authorities is needed in this regard.
AHMS Akhter, director of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway project, said the Dhaka Elevated Expressway under construction would run from Banani to Mohakhali. For this, the construction company has provided safety fences on both sides of the railway.
He added that the Dhaka Elevated Expressway will run from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital to Chattogram Road. In the first phase, work has been visible from the Airport to Banani. In the next step, the expressway from Banani to Magbazar will be constructed.
Elevated expressways are being constructed with safety fences to ensure the safe movement of trains during construction work. Work on the project continues during the global epidemic of coronavirus. The Dhaka Elevated Expressway is expected to be completed in 2023, said AHMS Akhter.
