Police recovered the slit-throat body of a schoolboy from a tea stall at Hajiganj Upazila Sadar in Chandpur on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Maruf Hossain Riyad, son of Md Faruk Hossain of Ghoshai Bari in the municipality area. The 15-year-old is a ninth-grader student of Amin Memorial High School of the Upazila.

Locals said that tea stall owner Md Farid spotted the body in his tea stall in the morning. Later, they informed the police. Bloodstains were found at a nearby abandoned building and the main gate of a primary school, they added.

Being informed by locals, police recovered the body around 8:00 am, said  Hajiganj Police Station officer-in-charge of Alamgir Hossain.

Police said they suspect miscreants stabbed Riyad with a sharp weapon and dumped his body in the tea stall in the night. The body was sent to Chandpur General Hospital for an autopsy.
