The list of 12-17-year-old school students has been asked to be sent from the Ministry of Education on October 30. As soon as the list is received, their vaccination campaign will start this month, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque.

He said while speaking at the inaugural function of ‘Student Health Examination’ and ‘National Deworming Week’ organized by junior doctors at a hotel in the capital on Thursday.

The Health Minister said the Health Division was ready to vaccinate students between the ages of 12 and 17. The number of students in the country is more than one crore. They will need three crore doses of vaccine – which is in our hands.

“We are now waiting for registration,” he said. “Registration will be done through the ICT Division. The Ministry of Education will it to the ICT Division. Later, they will update their system. From then on, students will be able to register and get vaccinated. It is not possible to register all at once. Registration will continue, we will continue to roll the vaccines.”

Zahid Maleque added that 50 lakh vaccines are expected to arrive under the COVAX facility next month. If our purchased vaccines continue to come as per the schedule, we will be able to give more than three crore vaccines per month.
