A recent study has found that those who drink energy drinks may have serious problems such as increased heartbeats, vomiting, heart attacks.

Researchers from the Ontario Waterloo University of Canada researched the study. Researchers said that among those who drink energy drinks, the problem of cardiovascular disease, vomiting, and sometimes heart attack is also found in the study.

A survey of 2,055 young Canadians aged 12-24 has found that 55.4 percent of those who have consumed energy drinks in life have become seriously ill at a time of health.

Here are few things you might have to put into consideration before you reach for another can of your favorite energy drink.

Energy drinks damage your teeth

Many foods we consume may sometimes have potential effects on the body. The effect depends on how much you eat them. Same case for energy drinks. Due to the caffeine and the high concentration of acidic ingredients in these drinks, continuous intake exposes the teeth to these acids over a long period causing the enamels to decay. This is called dental erosion, which is almost impossible to fix.

Heart problems

While everyone is aware of coffee’s caffeine content and is pretty savvy about how much they can handle, people pay less attention and do not regulate their caffeine content in energy drinks.

Caffeine and other compounds in energy drinks can boost heart rate and blood pressure if consumed in large quantities and have even been linked to a death or two. So before drinking energy drinks, be sure to know your heart’s health.

Headaches and Migraines

Drinking too much energy drinks can to severe headaches, constipation, and depression from the caffeine withdrawal symptoms or `Caffeine addiction`. Changing the amount of caffeine you ingest daily can cause more frequent headaches. Typically the more caffeine a person consumes, the greater the intensity and duration of the withdrawal.

Insomnia

Energy drinks do a good job of keeping people awake, but when abused, they can cause some people to miss sleep altogether. This is a different kind of tiredness; this is sitting up straight but still can’t keep your eyes open tiredness. This lack of sleep causes impaired functioning and it can be dangerous to drive or perform other concentration heavy tasks.

Drug Interaction

Energy drink companies are cramming all kinds of ingredients into their energy products. These strange ingredients like caffeine, taurine, guarana and B vitamins and what they supposedly do can interact with prescription medications especially medications taken for depression. Thus, they can cause adverse health complications to our bodies.

So stop spending too much for the very little benefit. Eat a balanced diet, drink lots of water, get enough sleep and exercise regularly. All these will cost you less and make you feel more energetic and alert.
