Rain and Storm in Satkhira due to Amphan
Storm and rain have started in Satkhira due to cyclone Amphan. The waves and water level in the river have risen much since Tuesday noon that can cause tidal surge.
Shyamnagar UNO A N M Abuzar Giffary said “Storms and rains have started in the coastal areas. Our team is working. Hopefully, the safe transfer of coastal residents will not be a problem.”
“We have already transferred 2,000 people to shelters,” he said. “The army, navy, fire service and coast guard are ready to help in the aftermath of the disaster. We also have a medical team ready.”
Satkhira Meteorological Department Officer-in-Charge Mr. Zulfiqar Ali said the cyclone is moving towards the coast at a speed of 225-245 km per hour. On Wednesday morning, there is a possibility of hitting the coast at a speed of 140-160 kmph. At the same time there may be tidal surges of 5-10 feet height.
