Sand-laden vessel sinks in Meghna being hit by launch: 3 missing

Three workers were missing when a sand-laden vessel was sunk in Meghna near Gazaria launch ghat in Munshiganj after being collided with a launch on early Sunday. The fire service and the diver team are working to rescue the missing.
The missing workers are Aslam and Amidul. However, the name of the other worker was not known yet. At this time a laborer named Nizam was able to reach the shore. Three people including the driver of the launch were arrested in the incident.
Gazaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Harun-Or-Rashid said that on Saturday night, a sand-laden vessel was seized by the Coast Guard and anchored near the Gazaria Ghat. The launch MV Kirthankhola-2, heading for Dhaka from Barisal on Sunday hit the ship, and then the sand dock sunk along with four sleeping workers.
Coast Guard Station Officer MM Asif said the driver of the launch Shahidul Islam along with two masters Jahangir Hossain and Yunush Bepary were arrested from Sadarghat, Dhaka, in the morning.
The driver Md. Shahidul Islam said the ship was visible after getting too closer due to fog that it was not possible to turn it easily. The sand ship sank before he could quickly turn the launch.
In this regard, the owner of the sand ship, Rahul Amin, said that the sand was filled from Chandpur area. But there was no place to put the ship because it was being brought to Meghna near Charhogla near the house. The Coast Guard detained it due to night time movement.
