Ismail Hossain Chowdhury alias Samrat, the expelled president of Dhaka Metropolitan South Juba League, who was arrested for the casino incident, has been taken back to jail from the hospital.
Confirming the matter, Subhash Kumar Das, senior jail superintendent (acting) of Dhaka Central Jail, told that Samrat was taken back to jail around 12:00 pm on Wednesday. “He has been kept in the jail hospital,” he said.
Earlier, on November 24 last year, a doctor at Kashimpur High Security Jail transferred Samrat to BSMMU Hospital with ‘chest pain’.
Following the anti-casino operation, RAB arrested Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat along with his associate Arman from Cumilla on October 6 last year.
Later, two cases were filed against him under the Arms and Narcotics Act with Ramna Police Station in the capital. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) also filed a case against him for allegedly acquiring non-income assets. A total of four cases have been lodged against him, including the new case under the Money Laundering Act.
