All-rounder Darren Sammy won the Twenty20 World Cup for the West Indies in 2014. This time he is going to receive honorary citizenship of Pakistan. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that it is being given honorary citizenship as a reward for making a significant contribution to bringing international cricket back into the country.

Sammy, who is currently leading Peshawar Zalmi in the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Pakistan's domestic Twenty20 cricket. If all goes well, President Arif Alvi will officially hand over the citizenship and Pakistan's highest civilian award, 'Nishan-e-Haider', on March 23 to Sammy.

Sammy is going to receive this honor as a third international cricketer. Earlier, the St Kitts government awarded Australia's Matthew Hayden and South African Herschelle Gibbs the honorary citizenship after 2007 World Cup.
