Salt market under control in 30 munites

The administration has taken control of the market, defying rumors of salt price hike in Cumilla's Chowdogram within 30 minutes.

A mobile court on Tuesday evening fined seven businessmen after carrying out a raid at Miyabazar of the upazila.

Upazila administration and police officials participated in the operation led by UNO Masud Rana.

UNO said some unscrupulous traders caused an artificial crisis of salt in various markets of the upazila on Tuesday from spreading rumors of price hike. Consumers were forced to buy salt at a higher price. Being informed police raid and fined Saha store of Chauddagram Bazar Tk 20,000, Bismillah store Tk 50,000, Russell store Tk 30,000, Anand Bakari Tk 30,000, Ibrahim store Tk 30,000, Bashar store Tk 10,000, and Shri Hari Bhandar store fined Tk 50,000.

Chowdogram Police Station SI Rezaul Karim said the remaining traders started selling the salt at a reasonable price within 30-minute. It has brought comfort to the buyers.

UNO Masud Rana said, "There is a price written in a packet of salt." Don't buy salt at high prices. Don't pay hit to rumors. Strict action will be taken to spread rumors.
