Law Minister Anisul Huq has expressed grief over the death of former Home Minister and Awami League presidium member Advocate Sahara Khatun, saying that “the country and the nation lost an honest, skilled lawyer and women leader by her death.”
The Law Minister sought forgiveness of the departed soul and conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members in a condolence message on Friday.
In his condolence message, Anisul Haq said that Sahara Khatun, a soldier of Bangabandhu’s ideology, has worked all her life for the realization of the rights of the people of the country. During the difficult times of the party, she has given courage and advice to the leaders and workers with legal help. At the same time, she has played an important role in organizing lawyers who believe in the spirit of the Liberation War.
The void created by the death of Sahara Khatun in the Awami League’s politics and in the spirit of the Liberation War is not easy to fill. Believers in the spirit of the Liberation War and the soldiers of Bangabandhu’s ideology will remember her contribution with respect, he added.
Sahara Khatun died at Bumrungrad Hospital in Thailand on Thursday night. Earlier, the veteran Awami League leader was airlifted to Thailand on July 8 for advanced treatment.
