SI suicides arguing with OC over leave for BCS

Pabna's Ataikula Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Hasan Ali wanted leave to take part in the 41st BCS preliminary examination. After arguing with the Officer in Charge (OC) for not giving him leave, he went on the roof of the police station and shot himself in the head.
That is what the father of the slain policeman is claiming. SI Hasan Ali is the son of Jabbar Ali, a van driver from Baliadanga village in Keshabpur, Jashore. He was buried in the family graveyard after Janaza in his village on Monday.
Hasan Ali joined the police on February 8 last year as the 36th outside cadet. He joined Pabna's Ataikula police station as SI on February 8 this year.
Keshabpur Sadar Union chairman Alauddin Ala said Hasan Ali's body reached his village home from Pabna's Ataikula on Sunday night. Hundreds of people flocked to see him at night. Hasan Ali's janaza was held next to his house on Monday morning. He was then buried in the family cemetery.
Hasan Ali's father Jabbar Ali said, I had a daughter and a son. I grew up my son a man with a lot of hardships in the world of scarcity. After graduating from Kushtia Islamic University, he got a job in the police with his own merits. At the end of the training, he joined Ataikula police station in Pabna last year as an SI.
He added that Hasan informed him on Wednesday that he would come to Khulna on Friday to take the preliminary examination of the 41st BCS. But the OC denied approving his leave. So, Hasan had an argument with the OC. He was upset that he was not given leave for exams. My son cannot commit suicide, he has been killed.
Keshabpur Police Station OC Jasim Uddin could not be reached for comment in this regard.
