SI Akbar banned from leaving country, alert at Benapole

SI Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, who was suspended in connection with the death of Raihan Uddin Ahmed in police custody at the Bandarbazar police outpost in Sylhet, has been banned from leaving country and an alert was issued at the Benapole Immigration and Border.

Benapole Immigration OC Ahsan Habib and Benapole Company Commander of BGB 49 Battalion Subedar Mizanur Rahman confirmed this on Friday evening.

Benapole Immigration OC Ahsan Habib said a message had been sent to Benapole Immigration banning SI Akbar from leaving the country. Everyone has been asked to be vigilant so that he cannot escape to India by any means.

Subedar Mizanur Rahman, Benapole Company Commander of BGB's 49th Battalion, said they are vigilant to prevent all kinds of illegal infiltration. The border alert has been intensified after receiving a message of banning SI Akbar from leaving the country.

Meanwhile, PBI chief Banaj Kumar Majumder said all immigration letters have been issued to prevent SI Akbar from fleeing the country. A team has been formed to catch him.

Raihan, son of Rafiqul Islam of Akhalia Neharipara of Sylhet, died at the Bandarbazar police outpost on Sunday morning. The victim's family claimed that the police had tortured Raihan to death in the outpost. However, police claimed that Raihan was beaten to death during a robbery in a wooded area of ​​the city.

Tahmina Akhter Tani, the wife of the deceased, filed a case with Sylhet Kotwali Model Police Station on Sunday night against unknown persons in the case. The case is currently being investigated by the PBI.

Meanwhile, four people, including SI Akbar Hossain of Bandarbazar police outpost, have been suspended in connection with Raihan's death. In addition, three more have been withdrawn from duty. SI Akbar has been missing since his dismissal.

The other three policemen who were suspended were ASI Touhid Mia, Constable Titu Chandra Das, and Harunur Rashid. ASI Ashiq Elahi, ASI Qutb Ali, Constable Sajeeb Hossain have been withdrawn from duty.
