Grameenphone directed to pay Tk 2 to BTRC within 3 months

The Appellate Division has directed the Grameenphone to pay Tk 2, thousand crores to Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

A four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmood Hossain passed the order on Sunday morning. The Appellate Division also directed that the payment has to be made within the next three months from today.

Lawyer AM Amin Uddin and Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas filed the hearing on behalf of Grameenphone in the court. He was accompanied by lawyer Mehdi Hasan Chowdhury, Sharif Bhuiyan and lawyer Tanim Hossain Shaon.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, Additional Attorney General Murad Reza, and lawyer Khandaker Reza-e-Rakib were on behalf of BTRC.

Earlier, on October 17, the High Court had imposed a two-month ban on collecting Tk 12 thousand 580 crores from Grameenphone. The BTRC appealed against the order. Later, on November 18, the Appellate Division fixed today for the order of the appeal made by BTRC against Grameenphone.
