Bangladesh National Cricket team head coach Russell Domingo arrived in Dhaka to observe the performance of the cricketers in the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup. BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Akram Khan said the other coaching staff would not come at the moment.
He arrived in Dhaka from South Africa on Wednesday morning. This South African coach is always aware of his responsibilities. Earlier, Domingo is seen to observe the performances of cricketers of the President's Cup. He also comes to Dhaka this time to observe the performance of the cricketers from the field. The coach wants to see from the front how the younger generation is doing in this tournament with the regular performers of the national team.
Akram said this yesterday, our head coach Russell Domingo will come to Dhaka in a day or two. Since the other staff on the team have no work now, they won’t come.
"Our president wants the head coach to come first and then others," he added. He wants the head coach to monitor the performance of the players and then when our practice starts in full swing for national team ahead of the West Indies tour, other staff will join him.
Domingo and other coaching staff left the country at the end of the BCB President's Cup.
Meanwhile, Akram said that BCB is in search of a batting coach. Former New Zealand batsman Craig Macmillan has been appointed as the batting coach for the tour of Sri Lanka following the resignation of Neil McKenzie.
After the postponement of the Sri Lanka tour Macmillan refused to take responsibility for the Tigers' batting coach citing his mental breakdown due to his father's death.
"We have not found a suitable batting coach yet. Negotiations are ongoing with some coaches," Akram said.
