The ICC announced the Women's teams of the year in the limited-overs formats, with New Zealand's Suzie Bates named the captain of ODI team while India's T20I skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was appointed to lead the T20 team. Rumana Ahmed bagged a place in ICC Women's T20I Team of the Year as a first Bangladeshi women cricketer.

This year cricketers from five countries got the place in the T20 squad. Four cricketers from Australia, three from India, two from New Zealand and one from each Bangladesh and England.

Rumana is the first Bangladeshi female cricketer who is in the ICC's eleventh season of the year. Right-hand legspinner bagged 30 wickets in 24 T20 matches. Meanwhile, four wickets in four matches of the ICC World T20.
