Ruet bus driver hacked to death

A bus driver of the Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (Ruet) hacked to death in front of Sheikh Hasina Hall of the university on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Abdus Salam, 55, hailing from Devisinghpara under Boalia Police Station in the city. He used to reside in the Ruet staff quarters.

Ruet officials` association president Golam Mostafa said that Abdus Salam was returning to his quarters at around 9:30 pm. On the way, some miscreants attacked him with sharp weapons near the Sheikh Hasina hall.

At that time, some people rescued him after hearing his scream and taken him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

He said there were injury marks on the abdomen and the head of the victim.

The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately.

Mahbub Alam, Officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station, confirmed the information.
