Rotten onions are coming from India
Indian onions have started coming to Bangladesh. However, one-third of the onion was rotten in the truck as it was stuck in the port for five days, resulting in trouble for concerned importers.
Such an image was seen during the unloading of the imported onions on Saturday afternoon.
Those whose onions are still stuck are afraid of losing their capital.
A representative of importer Khadija Enterprise told the media that one of the seven stuck onion trucks with 30 tonnes had entered Bangladesh – 10 tonnes of these have been wasted.
If the rest of the stranded trucks do not arrive quickly, those onions are also likely to be completely rotten, he also said, adding that many importers like him will lose their capital in this way.
Meanwhile, after the news of onion import spread in the district sadar and Shibganj markets, it has had an impact – the onions have decreased by Tk 10 per kg in the local market. Onions are now being sold in the market at Tk 50-55 per kg.
