Cristiano Ronaldo was infected with coronavirus about ten days earlier while in Portugal duty. After being in isolation for several days in a row, he did the Covid-19 test again. And unfortunately, the Juve star tested positive again which will keep him away to face Barcelona on Wednesday.
According to the UEFA protocol, a player must test negative one week before a match and Ronaldo hasn't been able to do so.
But according to a Sky Sports report, CR7 will take another test 24 hours before the Barcelona game and a negative result would mean him being available to face Lionel Messi's side.
Earlier, on October 13, the Portuguese Football Federation (PFF) confirmed the news that Ronaldo had been infected by Coronavirus. Although he hadn’t any symptoms of coronavirus in his body, he was in isolation since his positive result.
Meanwhile, CR7 went straight to Italy after being tested in Portugal. Italian Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora accused him of violating the Covid Protocol, even though he was in quarantine at his residence.
Ronaldo and Messi have never met in the Champions League group stages before, although they have met on three separate seasons in the knockout rounds.
