Pfizer’s vaccination campaign will start on Thursday morning at seven centers in the capital Dhaka.

The information has been obtained from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) sources.

Confirming the matter, Dr. Shamsul Haque, DGHS director (vaccination) earlier said other vaccination campaigns will be carried out in these centers at the same time.

It is learned that Pfizer’s vaccination centers are — Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU), Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital (SHSMC), Kurmitola General Hospital (KGH), Kuwait Bangladesh Maitri Hospital, Mitford Medical College Hospital and Mugda Medical College Hospital.

It has been directed to use government auditoriums in Dhaka and other divisional and district cities to facilitate vaccination – so that people who have been waiting for vaccination for a long time after registration can receive the vaccine.

Dr. Shamsul Haque said there will be no problem with Pfizer vaccination now as another 20 lakh doses of Pfizer vaccine will arrive in the country within a week.

He said the pace of vaccination would increase as more than 71 lakh Pfizer vaccines have already been secured from COVAX.

Besides Pfizer vaccines, Sinopharm vaccines will now be widely available outside Dhaka.
