‘Robber leader’ killed in N`ganj gunfight

A suspected robber leader was killed in a gunfight with police at Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj early Thursday. Police also arrested two members of the gang along with a pistol.

The deceased was identified as Sharif, who is accused in 15 cases including robbery with different police stations. 

Officer-in-charge of DB Mahbubur Rahman said, on secret information that a gang of robber was taking preparation for committing robbery Kanchan bridge area on Rupganj, a team of detective branch of police conducted a drive in the area around 4:30 am.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on them, forcing them to retaliate, triggering the gunfight between police and the criminals.

After half an hour gunfight, the law enforcers recovered Sharif’s bullet-hit body. After rescuing he was took to the Rupganj upazila health complex and doctors declared him dead.
