‘Robber’ killed in Comilla ‘gunfight’

A suspected robber was killed in a gunfight with DB police in Chandina upazila of Comilla early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Shamim, son of Sadequr Rahman of Kashimpur village in the upazila.
On secret information that a gang of robber was taking preparation for committing robbery in Choyghoria bridge area of the upazila, a team of Detective Branch of police caonductted a drive in the area around 2:30 am, said Manzurul Alam, officer-in-charge of DB in Comilla.
OC Manzurul said, sensing presence of the law enforcers, the “robbers” opened fire on them, forcing them to retaliate that triggered the “gunfight” between DB men and the robbers.
After gunfight, the law enforcers recovered Shamim`s bullet-hit body and he was took to the Comilla Medical College Hospital and doctors declared him dead. Other suspected robbers managed to flee, OC Manzurul added.
