A Barguna court placed Rifat Farazi, an accused in the Rifat Sharif murder case, on a seven-day remand in a case filed under the Arms Act on Tuesday.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Sirajul Islam Gazi passed the order when police produced him before the court on completion of his seven-day remand in the murder case.

Earlier on Monday, Md Humayun Kabir, inspector of Sadar Police Station and the investigation officer of the case, sought seven days to interrogate Farazi in the firearms case.

Earlier, a court placed him on a seven-day remand in the murder case.

Police arrested Farazi, the number two accused in the murder case, on July 2. The main accused, Sabbir Ahmed alias Nayon Bond, was killed in a reported gunfight with police.

Rifat Sharif, 22, was hacked to death in broad daylight in front of his wife and scores of people in the district town on June 26. The incident was caught on surveillance cameras.

Ten people have so far been arrested over the murder.
