The court has granted seven-day remand of Rifat Farazi, the second prime accused in Rifat Sharif murder case.  '

Police produced Rifat Farazi to the court of Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate Sirajul Islam Gazi at around 2:00 pm on Wednesday. The police appealed for a 10-day remand, the court granted a seven-day remand. 

The investigation officer of the case Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter.

Barguna Sadar Police Station OC (Investigation) Humayun Kabir said that police arrested Rifat Farazi at around 2:00 am. “Later, he was produced before the court at around 2:00 pm and appealed for a 10-day remand. The court granted a seven-day remand,” he said. 

Earlier on Tuesday, Sabbir Ahmed alias Nayon Bond, the prime accused in the Rifat Sharif murder case, was killed in a gunfight with police at Purakata area in Sadar Upazila of Barguna. 

Meanwhile, two arrestees in the case gave confessional statements before a court about their involvement in the murder.

On June 26, 22-years-old Rifat Sharif was hacked to death by criminals in front of his wife Ayesha Siddika Minni in broad daylight in the district town. The incident was caught on surveillance camera. 

Later at night, Rifat’s father Dulal Sharif filed a murder case with Barguna Sadar Police Station, accusing 12 people including Nayan and Farazi. 

Police arrested five people, including Rifat Farazi, among the accused. Besides, five more suspects were arrested. On Tuesday morning, the main accused Nayon Bond was killed in a gunfight.
