Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam on Thursday urged everyone to come forward to resist sexual harassment on women so that they become secure at their respective workplace in the society.

She said this while attending a 'view-exchange' meeting jointly organized by Bangladesh Mahila Parishad and Student Welfare and Counseling Center of the university at the seminar room of Zahir Raihan auditorium to mark the International Women Repression Prevention Fortnight 2018 and the World Human Rights Day.

Addressing the function, the JU VC said, "Prevention of sexual harassment is a social movement. We must have to forget the discrimination between men and women and think ourselves only as human being."

"If we want to wake up, we will have to know, listen and read. To prevent different crimes like sexual harassment, we will have to be physically and mentally capable to prevent those," she added.

Presided over by Director of Student Welfare and Counseling Center Professor Rasheda Akhter, JU Treasurer Professor Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq and President of the central committee of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad Ayesha Khanm, among others, addressed the function.

Around 200 students and teachers from different departments and institutes took part in the discussion.
