Bidyanondo Foundation, mostly known for ‘One Taka Meal’, one of the leading charity organizations is now providing the residential hotel facility for female students only at Tk 1.
A number of women come to Dhaka regularly for education or job needs. However, they have to be very concerned about safe housing. With that in mind, ‘Bashonti Nibash’ started its journey in March this year for female students and job seekers in the capital’s Pallobi. There, the students only had to pay Tk 71 for the first night and Tk 299 for both the employee and the student from the second night. However, from Saturday, students from outside Dhaka will be able to spend the night there for only 1 taka. In addition, the cost per day has been reduced by one hundred taka to 199 taka.
Tahmina Akhter, In-charge of Bashonti Nibash, told Daily Bangladesh that a gang-rape had taken place on a Cumilla-bound bus recently. Many female students and job seeker women are coming to Dhaka to participate in exams or for various needs. Lacking a place to stay, they return home at night, which is not safe. With that in mind, Bidyanondo’s new event has started today, where a student will get the benefit of a residential hotel for just one taka.
On March 8 this year, on International Women’s Day, Bidyanondo’s Basonti Nibash started its journey at house No. 13, Road No. 2/B, Pallobi in Mirpur. The residential hotel for women specialized in Japanese-designed capsule beds with air-conditioning and WiFi facilities. It is to mention that all the officers and employees of the hotel are women. There is also a full-time CCTV camera and access control system.
To stay in the hotel, students from outside Dhaka have to show admit cards of exams or bus tickets as proof.
Tahmina Akhter said that at present the hotel has only one branch. However, Bashonti Nibash has plans to set up more branches in the future.
Incidentally, the volunteers of the Bidyanondo Foundation have played a leading role in tackling any disaster including coronavirus pandemic and floods in the country along with projects like ‘One Taka Meal’, ‘Bidyanondo Floating Hospital’ etc.
The organization took place in the minds of the people of the country by arranging food for the underprivileged children at one taka.
