Police have arrested two more suspects in connection with the lynching of a woman named Taslima Begum Renu in mob beating in capital’s Badda.  

Police detained them on Monday night from Badda area. They are — Kamal and Abul Kalam Azad. 

Earlier, one of the four arrestees made a confessional statement in court. He was sent to prison. The court granted four-day remand for the remaining three. 

“Two people, Kamal and Abul Kalam Azad, were arrested in connection with the massacre on Monday night. They will be sent to court on Tuesday,” said Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Badda Police Station.  

“They were arrested after reviewing video footage of the mob beating incident. The drive to arrest others is going on by identifying them,” the OC also said.    

Taslima Begum Renu, a mother, went to a local school to seek information about  about her daughter’ admission in capital’s North Badda on July 25 morning. During that, she was killed in a lynch-mob attack on suspicion of child lifting. Victim’s nephew Nasir Uddin lodged a case against 400-500 unnamed with Badda Police Station on Saturday night in this regard.

On July 21, three people — Jafar, Saheen, Bappy- were arrested and on July 22, another named Bacchu was arrested.   

On July 22, police sought a seven-day remand for the four arrestees. In view of this, the court granted remand for three to four days. Jafar was sent to jail after giving confessional statement to the court.
