Renowned writer Dibyendu Palit passes away

The famous writer of Bangla literature, Dibyendu Palit passed away. He was 79 years old.

The veteran literature left the last breath at KPC Medical College and Hospital in Jadavpur, Kolkata on Thursday. He fell sick on Wednesday and was admitted to the hospital.

In 1984, Dibyendu Palit was awarded the Ananda Puraskar. In 1990, he awarded Bankim Award for his ‘Dhew’ novel, and in 1998, he won Sahitya Akademi Award for the ‘Anuvab’ novel.   

His first story, ‘Chandapatan’ was published in 1955 and the first novel ‘Sindhu Barua’ was published in 1959.

Dibyendu Palit was born on March 5, 1939, in Bhagalpur, Bihar. He was a student of Comparative Literature Department at Jadavpur University.
